Business Support

Emergency Medical Services (EMS)
Perform patient assessments and provide care in emergency situations. Operate and maintain readiness of ambulances, assist other EMS staff, operate cardiac monitors and leads and prepare written reports for ambulance calls. EMT licensure or paramedic licensure required.

Engineering and Building Operations
Create and maintain an environment of facility growth and improvement. Careers can include groundskeeping, skilled trades, mechanical and building facilities. Apprenticeship opportunities available to learn and advance in electrical, mechanical, pipe fitting, HVAC and more!
Environmental Services
Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients, visitors and employees at MU Health Care facilities. Perform cleaning routines in patient rooms, procedures areas, common areas, offices and more. Follow PPE procedures and guidelines and protect patient confidentiality. Interact with the public and help to foster a positive atmosphere.
Laboratory
Collect, process and deliver specimens to receive patient test results. Assist health care providers with ordering tests and coding appropriately. Manage communication with multiple stakeholders to ensure quality control and accurate results for patients. Advancement requires experience and an associate or bachelor’s degree in a qualifying field.
Medical Laboratory Services
Composed of phlembotomists that draw blood, laboratory scientists that analyze samples behind the scenes and many support roles. These laboratory professionals perform high-quality testing that is critical to taking care of patients.

Nursing
Nurse Tech provides basic frontline care through the entire patient experience, from admission to discharge. CMA/LPN/RNs work closely with providers and staff to offer kind, safe and efficient care and support. Certification/license required.

Patient Transportation
Work as part of the patient care team to support safe and efficient transport and assistance. Help move patients to and from procedures, tests and hospital units; ensure comfort and safety during transfers; and provide support to nursing and clinical staff as needed.
Pharmacy Technician
Safely complete intake and distribution of pharmaceuticals, prioritizing patient experience.
Physical Therapy
Work collaboratively with patients’ care teams to support recovery from injuries and other conditions. Rehab therapy aides assist with patient care under the supervision of a physical therapist. Orthopaedic technicians help with bracing, ambulatory aids and durable medical equipment. Physical therapist assistants and physical therapists require PTA licensure or permits to manage patient care.
Respiratory Therapy
Work closely with providers and other frontline caregivers to offer respiratory therapy care. Respiratory care practicioners require certification/licenses.

Surgical Tech
Assist with operations under the supervision of surgical personnel. Set up operating rooms, prepare and transport patients for surgery and support surgical teams during procedures. Certifications include CSFA, NBSTSA, SA-C or CSA.
