We value our employees' health, time and personal lives. That's why we offer a complete benefits package — including health insurance, paid time off accrual and retirement options — day one.

Insurance Benefits

The last thing we want our employees to worry about is gaps in insurance coverage. MU Health Care employees who work an average of 30 or more hours per week are eligible for health, dental and vision insurance coverage on their first day of employment.

Medical

From PPO plans to health savings plans, we offer multiple plan options for health insurance including our signature Custom Network Plan, which offers family premiums as low as $437 a month.


Dental

We offer two dental coverage options: the Dental Base Plan and the Dental Buy Up Plan. Both options cover preventative, basic and major services, but the Buy Up Plan expands coverage to include orthodontics, lower deductible and higher annual maximum.

Vision

Our Vision Plan is administered by VSP and uses the VSP Choice network. Coverage includes eye wellness exams, essential medical eye care, glasses and contacts. Those who choose this plan can receive discounted group rates at all locations where the insurance is accepted.

Vacation and Paid Leave

We want our employees to thrive in and outside of the workplace with a healthy work-life balance. That's why in addition to traditional paid holidays, we offer a robust paid leave package. Employees start accruing vacation leave day one.
Paid Holidays

Paid Holidays

Employees get nine paid holidays a year, including New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, the Friday after Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Vacation

Paid Time Off

Hourly employees who are benefit eligible (30+ hours a week) accrue 18 vacation days* a year for their first five years of employment, while salary employees accrue 23 vacation days.
*Employees working 75-99 percent full-time equivalence will accrue PTO time on a pro-rata basis.
Funeral Leave

Funeral Leave

Employees may take up to three days without any loss of pay or vacation in the event of a family member’s death.

FMLA

Eligible employees may take up to 12 weeks of leave for family, medical reasons and leave for military families while maintaining job protection.
Paid Holidays

Parental & Caregiver Leave

Employees can qualify for up to 4 weeks of paid parental leave and up to 2 weeks of paid caregiver leave.

Short-Term Disability

Eligible employees receive short-term disability coverage that provides 60% of an employees' pay for up to 20 weeks.

Retirement

Retirement

Employees can choose to participate in our voluntary 403(b), 457(b) and 401(a) plans with up to 8% contributions and a 100% employer match.

Pre-Tax Savings Plans

We offer pre-tax savings account options including our health savings account (HSA) and health care flexible spending account (FSA) for medical expenses, as well as a dependent FSA for day care expenses.
Income Protection

Income Protection

For additional peace of mind, MU Health Care covers the cost of basic life and disability insurance plans for all eligible employees. Employees can also choose to participate in additional low-cost coverage plans including accidental death and dismemberment plans.
Tuition Reimbursement

Tuition Assistance

We support employees and family members who choose to continue their education. Employees can receive 75% off of tuition for six credits each semester, and their spouses and dependents can receive 50% off for up to 140 credit hours. We also offer 100% off tuition and fees for retirees when class space is available.
