PGY1 Community-Based Pharmacy Ambulatory Care Focused Residency Program

MU Health Care’s postgraduate year one (PGY1) community-based pharmacy (ambulatory care focused) residency program will facilitate the development of leaders and educators in ambulatory pharmacy practice. The program is accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) and the American Pharmacist Association (APhA).

As a part of an academic health system, with an established residency infrastructure, we offer our residents a broad array of ambulatory experiences within diverse patient care settings. Our program provides innovative learning opportunities and fosters collaboration among all health professionals to improve patient outcomes across the continuum of care.

Program Purpose

PGY1 residency programs build upon Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) education and outcomes to develop pharmacist practitioners with knowledge, skills and abilities as defined in the educational competency areas, goals and objectives. Residents who successfully complete PGY1 residency programs will be skilled in diverse patient care, practice management, leadership and education, and be prepared to provide patient care, seek board certification in pharmacotherapy (i.e., BCPS) and pursue advanced education and training opportunities including postgraduate year two (PGY2) residencies.

Eligibility

To qualify for the PGY1 Community-Based Pharmacy residency program, you must:

  • Be a graduate of an accredited college or school of pharmacy with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree
  • Be licensed or eligible for pharmacist licensure in the state of Missouri
