PGY1 Community-Based Pharmacy Ambulatory Care Focused Residency Program

MU Health Care’s postgraduate year one (PGY1) community-based pharmacy (ambulatory care focused) residency program will facilitate the development of leaders and educators in ambulatory pharmacy practice. The program is accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) and the American Pharmacist Association (APhA).

As a part of an academic health system, with an established residency infrastructure, we offer our residents a broad array of ambulatory experiences within diverse patient care settings. Our program provides innovative learning opportunities and fosters collaboration among all health professionals to improve patient outcomes across the continuum of care.

Program Purpose

The PGY1 community-based residency at MU Health Care builds upon the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) education and outcomes to develop community‐based pharmacist practitioners with diverse patient care, leadership and education skills who are eligible to pursue advanced training opportunities including postgraduate year two (PGY2) residencies and professional certifications.

Eligibility

To qualify for the PGY1 Community-based residency program, you must:

  • Be a graduate of an accredited college or school of pharmacy with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree
  • Be licensed or eligible for pharmacist licensure in the state of Missouri
